Users of FontAgent® Connected Clients can connect to FontAgent Server running in the Cloud or on your private network. Once connected, the users can sync with the server to upload and download fonts.
Client Sharing Preferences
Users of FontAgent Clients connect to FontAgent Server so they can synchronize their fonts and sets with the server. Server admins must supply users with their Sharing Preferences settings.
- If you are using FontAgent CloudServer, check the box labeled Use CloudServer for everything.
- If you are using a server installed on your network, check the box labeled Use internal server and enter the network name of the server.
Syncing with the Server
To sync with the server, users of Connected Clients can click the Sync button shown below. It appears in the upper-right of the toolbar at the top of the FontAgent application window.
When a user syncs with FontAgent Server, the following actions occur:
- The server downloads fonts and sets to the client that have been newly assigned to the user
- The server removes fonts and sets from the client for which the user no longer has permissions
- The client uploads newly shared fonts and sets to the server (only if the user has been granted upload permissions)
Uploading Fonts to the Server
If you have been granted permissions to share fonts with FontAgent Server, you can upload fonts. Note that uploading fonts to the server does not automatically share them with users. Instead, to provide more complete font control, admins with distribution permissions assign fonts to users and groups.
