Integrate with Directory Services

Contents

You can import user and group information into FontAgent Server from enterprise directory services platforms.

    Directory Services Integration Requirements

The following requirements must be met to Integrate FontAgent Server with enterprise directory services.

    • Your organization must be running an LDAP-compliant directory service such as Windows Active Directory or Apple Open Directory.
    • The system running FontAgent Server must be bound to the directory service.

To verify the status and structure of your enterprise directory services, please contact your IT manager.

Linking On-Premise Server to Directory Services

To integrate with enterprise directory services, you must first launch the FontAgent Server Manager.

To import users from enterprise directory services, follow these steps:

    1. Click Directory in the Sidebar of the admin window.
    2. Click Add in the upper-right corner of the top pane to launch the Add Directory dialog.
    3. Select the type of directory services you are using by choosing Open Directory, Active Directory or Azure AD.
    4. Select a node from the Node Name dialog that appears. If FontAgent Server is running on a system that is bound to directory services, the node automatically appears. Enter the Node and Connection Details then click Fetch Directory Records.
    5. Click the Groups tab, then select the groups in the Raw Directory Groups and Users dialog that you wish to add to FontAgent Server and click the Save button.

    Linking CloudServer to Directory Services

If you are using FontAgent CloudServer, which is hosted by Insider Software in the Cloud, you can link to enterprise directory services by either:

    • Opening a firewall port to allow your internal directory service to talk through the firewall to FontAgent CloudServer, or
    • Linking to your Active Directory service using the AzureAD or Entra ID interface without having to open a firewall port.

For more details on linking directory services to CloudServer, contact Insider Software.
