Manage Font Licenses

    FontAgent® Server’s License Manager lets you store font license details, control and monitor font usage, and drive font license compliance across your organization.

    How Do Licenses Work in FontAgent Server?

    To use font licenses in FontAgent Server, you first create font licenses and define their details. Then, you assign those licenses to fonts and sets, which establishes the number of instances of the font that you can legally distribute to users.

    As you assign fonts and sets to users, FontAgent Server keeps track of which fonts are in use by which users. You can view reports and alerts by font, user, group or machine to get a quick, real-time snapshot of font usage and compliance across your organization for specific time periods.

    To manage font licenses in FontAgent Server, you must first launch the Server Manager. You must also have been granted permissions to manage licenses on your server.

    Creating a New Font License

    To create a font license in the FontAgent Server Manager, follow these steps:

    1. Select the Licenses tab in the Sidebar.
    2. Click the Add License button that appears at the top-right of the top pane and a dialog appears.
    3. Enter font license information including purchase details and license count. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required.
    4. Drop license, purchase orders, receipts and other purchase documents into the dialog.
    5. Click Save to save the new license details.

    Modifying an Existing Font License

    To modify an existing font license, follow these steps:

    1. Select the Licenses tab in the Sidebar. Existing licenses appear in the top pane of the Server Manager.
    2. Select the license you wish to modify and its details appear in the bottom pane.
    3. Make desired changes to the font’s license details.
    4. Click Save to save your changes.

    Managing License Documents

    To import to a license document such as a PDF, image or a text file with license or purchase information, follow these steps:

    1. Select the Licenses tab in the Sidebar. Existing licenses appear in the top pane of the Server Manager.
    2. Select the license you wish to modify and its details appear in the bottom pane.
    3. Drag font documents—in PDF, image, text and other file formats—into the dialog.
    4. Click Save to store your changes.

    To view a previously uploaded document, click its associated View button.

    Deleting a Font License

    To delete a font license, follow these steps:

    1. Select the Licenses tab in the Sidebar. Existing licenses appear in the top pane of the Server Manager.
    2. Locate the font license to be deleted from the list of licenses. You can use the Filter Licenses field at the top-right of the pane to help find the right license.
    3. Click the Delete button on the right side of the license’s name.
    4. A confirmation dialog appears. Click Yes to delete the license.
