Assign Licenses to Fonts and Sets

Contents

After you have defined the details of a font license, you can assign it to fonts and sets stored in FontAgent® Server.

How Do Licenses Work in FontAgent Server?

To use font licenses in FontAgent Server, you first create font licenses and define their details. Then, you assign those licenses for distirbution to fonts and sets, which establishes the number of instances of the font that you can legally distribute to users.

As you assign fonts and sets to users, FontAgent Server keeps track of which fonts are in use by which users. You can view reports and alerts by font, user, group or machine to get a quick, real-time snapshot of font usage and compliance across your organization for specific time periods.

To assign licenses to fonts and sets, you must first launch the FontAgent Server Manager.

    Assigning a License to Fonts

When you assign a license to a font, you designate that font to be governed by the font license. To assign fonts to the selected font license, follow these steps:

    1. Click the Licenses tab in the Sidebar. A list of licenses appears in the top pane of the Server Manager.
    2. Select the license to be modified from the list of server sets. You can use the Filter Licenses field at the top-right of the pane to help find the right license.
    3. Click the Fonts tab in the bottom pane.
    4. Click the Add Fonts button and the Add Fonts dialog appears.
    5. Check the fonts that you wish to be governed by the license. You can use the Filter Fonts field to find the right fonts.
    6. Click the Save button and FontAgent Server assigns the terms of the font license to the selected fonts.
